Realme X7! : How good (on paper) is the most awaited realme smartphone?!

Realme ‘was’ previously known for its highly frequent phone launches. But now that thought isn’t anything true. The last time realme smartphone was launched in September 2020 and it’s the X7 now. There was a lot of hype going around the X7. Is the rebranded realme V15 good enough to survive the competition? Read ahead to find out:

The realme X7 was launched alongside its big brother, the X7 Pro, both of which are rebranded versions of the realme V15 and V15 Pro respectively, which launched in China back in August 2020. Though it was launched in August 2020, it’s go plenty to justify in 2021 as well. 

Here’s what the X7’s got to offer in every category: 

Processor:

The realme X7 is powered by MediaTek’s all new Dimensity 800U. It’s built on a 7nm fabrication process, meaning the efficiency’s going to be pretty good. And, what makes it stand out is the 5G modem built in. And, it’s not just 1 or 2 mere bands, it’s got 4 5G bands, making it quite future proof. Realme claims to have optimised the software in such a way that it doesn’t let go the efficiency even on 5G network. 

Along with that, is the Copper cooling system, checking temperature and maintaining efficiency. Kudos to realme here for looking into efficiency after having suffered for heating issues on previous smartphones. 

Display: 

Here’s a 6.4” Super AMOLED panel with a 60Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate. Though the refresh rate is 60Hz, the AMOLED panel and high touch sampling rate are there to compensate. I’m someone more inclined towards 60Hz AMOLED rather than high refresh rate LCDs. The AMOLED panel here, gives room for the in-display fingerprint sensor, which on mid-rangers is quite rare these days, with most other brands going with LCD panels. Not cutting corners here may give a huge advantage for realme.  

Cameras: 

The X7’s got a triple-camera setup: A 64-Megapixel Primary, an 8-Megapixel Ultrawide angle lens, and a highly unnecessary 2-Megapixel Macro lens. I, of course haven’t tested the smartphone. But in accordance with people who have, it’s quite evident that the primary camera is really good. The Ultrawide though is mediocre and there’re no words regarding the Macro lens. In fact, the primary 64-Megapixel camera takes better macro shots than the macro lens, itself. 

Design and Build:

The X7 has a weird, large ‘Dare to Leap’ branding at the back, which is entirely subjective. There are 3 colour options to choose from, Space, Nebula (Should’ve been named Unicorn) and Silver. 

The build though, is quite good. It’s glass, both front and back. 

Battery:

Everything above is powered by a 4300 mAh battery, which though might seem mediocre, has got something to compensate, the 50W fast charging. It actually comes packed with a 65W fast charger in the box, with support for it too, but realme has restricted the charging speed to 50W. Realme claims the 50W charger to fill up juice in just 47 minutes. Impressive! 

Pricing:

The realme X7 starts at ₹19,999 (6GB + 128GB) making it the cheapest 5G phone in the market. The 8GB + 128GB though, costs ₹ 21,999. If you ask me, I’d say the pricing is really good, especially because it’s got 4 5G bands and a really good display, which most competitors don’t.
