\’MagSafe\’ is something that made up some time of the Apple event in which the iPhone 12 lineup along with the Homepod mini was launched. What is it and why was this a special mention at the event? Know it here:
As always, this year\’s iPhone lineup too, the iPhone 12, has support for wireless charging. So what\’s so special there? This time, Apple has made it made far more convenient through MagSafe. The use of strong magnets here, not only improves charging, but also helps the mobile stick on to the charger unlike some other phones/chargers that fall off.

Here\’s how it\’s far more efficient than other wireless chargers:
In case of most other chargers, you keep the mobile on a charging pad which is most likely rectangular in shape and you never know where the coil is located which may lead to dis-alignment of the magnets, resulting in slow charging. But with MagSafe, the charger is circular, you know where the coil is and the strong magnets stick on to the iPhone with a satisfactory snap, harnessing the total potential of the charger. The MagSafe charger is capable of 15W fast charging provided it\’s connected to Apple\’s 20W charger for iPhones and the not the heavy output MacBook adaptor.

And not just that, any other phone with the back case put, won\’t be able to charge wirelessly, due to the obstructing case. Apple though, has special MagSafe cases, which are capable of charging the mobile wirelessly even when put on. Some of the accessories that Apple sells here in India are: A number of MagSafe cases and leather wallets with strong magnets to stick on safely. The wallets are shielded so that no damage is caused to the cards inside.

There\’s good news for people with Android phones that support wireless charging as well! The MagSafe charger can also be used to charge Android devices 🙂 However, not as effective as on the iPhone. But it surely works!
