2020 has seen a couple of smartphone launches. But not just smartphones, Apple and Samsung have come up with their tablets. Apple was, however, a ruler of the tablet industry, but now there is a competitor, with its flagship tablet. So how does the Samsung Tab S7+ compete with the brand new iPad Air? Let\’s find out:

Performance:

As always, first up performance. Samsung here has gone with Qualcomm\’s latest and android\’s fastest processor, the Snapdragon 865+. On the other hand, the iPad Air has got Apple\’s all-new A14 Bionic, which has never been used in any other iPhone/iPad. The 865+ on the S7+ performs really good, easing through day-to-day tasks and also handling graphically intensive tasks really well. Also, the gaming experience here, combined with those stereo speakers, is really good. Coming to the A14 Bionic. According to Apple, this chipset is the most advanced that they\’ve ever made, which a 40% and 30% increase in the CPU and GPU performance respectively when compared to the A12 Bionic and not the A13 Bionic. This chipset, along with iPadOS 14, is just going to provide amazing performance. Well, I\’d say, Apple\’s gets a point here.

Cameras:

Samsung\’s S7+ has got a 13 Megapixel Primary and a 5 Megapixel Ultrawide camera, both of which, I\’d expect to perform pretty well at well-lit conditions. It has also got support for 4K video recording, all thanks to the 865+. It has a 7 Megapixel selfie shooter, a good one for video calls. Apple\’s iPad Air, on the other hand, has got a single camera, a 12 Megapixel one. This although, has lesser \’numbers\’ performs better. That\’s because of the software(will talk about in a bit). And the features in Apple\’s camera app remain making it a very good camera experience. It has support for video recording at 4K 60FPS while the S7+ can do up to 30FPS. It has a 7 Megapixel FaceTime Camera (basically, a selfie camera) which has support for 1080P 60FPS, making it a great experience during video calls. Again, Apple here.

Display:

The S7+ has got an amazing Samsung AMOLED panel (12.4 Inch), along with a 120Hz refresh rate making it the best in the industry. The iPad Air has got a Retina Display(10.9 Inch), with a 60Hz refresh rate and a 120Hz touch sampling rate. This time, Samsung\’s the winner.

The Purpose:

The main purpose of these tablets is \’Productivity\’. This is justified by the accessories they provide and the way they promote it. The Samsung S7+ has an S-Pen built-in that can be charged by attaching it below to the camera array. Even a keyboard (sold separately) adds to the feel of a laptop. The iPad Air on the other hand also gets both of these accessories, both of which are sold separately: The Apple Pencil and the Magic Keyboard. The connectivity on both is phenomenal, although the latency and the feel on the iPad Air are slightly better. The iPad Air comes with iPadOS, which is really well optimized for productivity. Samsung too, no doubt has good software. But when it is compared to the likes of iPadOS, it surely lags behind.

The Price:

The prices here are close. The Tab S7+ (Wi-Fi only) costs 55999  INR and the iPad Air (Wi-Fi only) costs 54900 INR. Both of these prices provide amazing value. Most of the technical specs being similar(except the processor – more powerful on the iPad Air), it totally depends on which software you prefer. I would rather suggest iPadOS over Android as it provides AMAZING productivity experience.
